Dental Appliances: Night Guards, Splints & Retainers

Protective, retentive, and therapeutic: Reliable Dental Studio fabricates custom dental appliances your patients will actually wear. From soft, hard, and combo night guards to Hawley and Essix retainers, every appliance is made to your prescription in our California, Colorado, and Texas labs.

One Lab for Every Dental Appliance Your Practice Prescribes

Since 1991, orthodontic appliances have been one of our four core departments, alongside crowns and bridges, implants, and removables. That matters, because appliances are where labs often cut corners: inconsistent thickness, rough edges, poor retention. Not here. Whether you order a hard occlusal guard, a TMJ splint, a mandibular advancement device, or a simple Essix retainer, each dental appliance is thermoformed or processed to your specification, finished by hand, and checked for fit and comfort before it ships. Your patients judge your practice by how the appliance feels on night one. We make sure that first impression holds.

Trusted materials, consistent thickness, clean finishing: appliance work done properly.

Your Appliance Lab: Consistent Fit, Night After Night

An appliance only works if the patient wears it. That is why comfort and retention drive our workflow: precise model or scan preparation, controlled thermoforming, careful occlusal adjustment on guards and splints, and smooth, polished finishing on every dental appliance, so compliance never fails because of the lab.

Soft, Hard, or Combo: Built to Your Prescription

No two bruxers are alike, and no single guard design fits every case. That is why we fabricate night guards and splints in soft, hard, and combination designs, including Talon-style options, each with the thickness, coverage, and occlusal scheme you specify on the Rx. Send a physical impression or an intraoral scan; we prepare the model, form the appliance under controlled conditions, adjust the occlusion, and polish every margin. If a prescription leaves room for interpretation, the responsible technician calls you before fabrication, because a remake helps nobody, least of all the patient.

Which dental appliances do you fabricate?

Our appliance department covers protective, therapeutic, and retentive appliances: occlusal guards in soft, hard, and combo designs, occlusal splints, NTI night guards, TMJ mouth guards and splints, mandibular advancement devices for sleep apnea therapy, and Hawley, Essix, and clear retainers. If you need an appliance that is not listed here, ask us; chances are we make it.

Can I send digital scans for appliances?

Yes. Intraoral scans work well for most appliances, including night guards and thermoformed retainers. Upload your scan as an STL or OBJ file through our portal, note the design, thickness, and occlusal requirements on the digital Rx, and we take care of the rest. Conventional impressions are equally welcome.

How long does an appliance case take?

Standard appliance cases ship in five to ten working days in-lab, depending on the appliance type and on whether you send a digital scan or a conventional impression, plus shipping time via UPS or FedEx. If your patient has a fixed appointment, note the date on the Rx. We schedule the case backwards from your seat date and tell you immediately if a timeline is not realistic.

What should I specify on the Rx?

The appliance type and design (soft, hard, or combo), material thickness if you have a preference, the arch, any specific coverage or occlusal instructions, and the patient's relevant clinical situation, for example bruxism severity or TMJ symptoms. The more precise the Rx, the fewer chairside adjustments you will need.

Orthodontic Appliances From a Lab That Sweats the Details

Reliable Dental Studio has fabricated orthodontic appliances and night guards since 1991, long enough to know that appliance work is judged in tenths of a millimeter. A retainer that seats with a satisfying click, a night guard the patient forgets after a week, a splint that holds its adjustment: that is the standard our family-owned lab has built its reputation on.

Every dental appliance starts with clean data. We accept intraoral scans and conventional impressions, prepare and verify the working model, and form each appliance under controlled conditions with consistent material thickness. Occlusal appliances are adjusted on the articulator before shipping, and every margin is finished smooth, because sharp edges are the fastest way to lose patient compliance.

We use trusted, name-brand materials for every appliance and document quality control on each case. No shortcuts: to us, being reliable means the appliance you seat tomorrow behaves exactly like the one you seated last month. And as with every department at RSU, our customer service team is your point of contact for every case. Questions about design, thickness, or material are answered promptly, with input from the technicians at the bench. And if we believe a different appliance design would serve your patient better, we tell you before we fabricate, not after.

Records make or break appliance work, so we keep the intake simple: send an intraoral scan or a conventional impression, note design, thickness, and coverage on the Rx, and the responsible technician confirms anything ambiguous before fabrication begins. The lab has worked digitally since 2010, so STL and OBJ files flow into the same verified workflow as physical impressions. Clear records in, a predictable dental appliance out; that exchange is the quiet routine behind every case we ship.

Night Guards, Retainers & More: Delivered Nationwide

Practices in all 50 states send their appliance cases to our labs in Rosemead, California, Lakewood, Colorado, and Round Rock, Texas. Shipping runs via UPS and FedEx with prepaid labels and shipping supplies we provide; local practices can schedule a pickup, and digital cases arrive instantly through our secure portal. Appliances rarely travel alone. A night guard next to a new crown, retainers after ortho treatment, a TMJ splint for a full-mouth reconstruction patient. Because our appliance department sits under the same roof as crowns and bridges, implants, and removables, combination cases stay coordinated and consistent.

For high-volume practices and dental groups, our appliance department offers what matters most: repeatable quality at scale. Same materials, same protocols, same finishing standards at all three locations, so every dental appliance your practices prescribe comes back the way you expect it. Orthodontic practices also appreciate our retainer support: duplicate retainers from your stored digital files for up to 30 days after fabrication, impression models kept on request, quick replacements when a patient loses one, and clean, precise wirework on every Hawley we deliver. A small thing, until a patient calls on a Friday afternoon. Ready to raise the standard on your appliance work? Send your next case to Reliable Dental Studio or open a lab account. We respond within 24 hours, and once your documents are complete you receive Rx slips, shipping supplies, and digital portal access.
